If you are one of the user of social media platform ask.fm, you should totally find me (my username is @dindadwitapuspasari) and you can ask any questions you want.
Recently, I got a lot of repetitive questions and then some of the people actually asked me to make FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to be featured in my profile on that platform. I thought that is a good idea, and maybe I can also feature that on my blog since I link everything pretty much to my blog.
So here it is:
- What is your full name?
Dinda Dwita Puspasari.
- How do people usually call you?
Dinda, but my family and closest friends call me Ayuk Wita. Ayuk means “big sister” in Palembangnese. I was born and raised in Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra, so I can speak the language and that is why my family and friends also use the term from that language to call me.
- How old are you?
I was born on April 26,1992. you can count it yourself.
- Tell us about your academic journey.
I went to elementary school, middle school, and half of my high school in Palembang, Indonesia. Then I got full scholarship from US Department of States under a program called Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (KL-YES) to live in USA for one year. In USA, I stayed with a host family in Enumclaw, Washington State. It is like 45 minutes drive away from Seattle. I went to Enumclaw High School. After that I went back to Palembang to finish my last year of high school. I got into University of Indonesia in 2011, majoring in Communication Studies. In my second year of university, I chose the specialization in Public Relations. In my third year, I got the full scholarship from Temasek Foundation Singapore under a program called Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking Award (TF-LEaRN) to study for one semester at National University of Singapore. Again, after that I went back to Indonesia to do my thesis. But my degree is from Indonesia, I did not get the degree from Singapore because it was not a dual degree program.
- How can you get the scholarship abroad? Mind to share your tips and tricks?
You can read about the scholarship to USA here: https://dindadwitapuspasari.wordpress.com/2016/04/18/perjuangan-mendapatkan-afsyes-scholarship-khusus-untuk-anak-sma/
And about the scholarship to National University of Singapore here:
P.S: both of the blogposts were written in Bahasa Indonesia.
- Where do you work?
I got my first ever full time job in Singapore. Previously I have working experience but only internships or project-based work. It was an international commodity trading company, and my position was the Management Associate. I already resigned from that company because me and my boyfriend decided to move back to Indonesia to aim for high career advancement in the bigger market. Now I am working in a public relations and global communications management agency in Jakarta. If you want to know more about my professional experience, please check out my linkedin page here: https://sg.linkedin.com/in/dindadwitapuspasari
- Tell us about your host family when you were in USA.
My host family was The Lantrip’s. They are the Irish-British family living in Seattle area. The family consists of Dad (Jeff Lantrip), Mom (Carrie Lantrip), and my 5 adorable little brothers (Joseph, Frankie, Isaac, Gilbert, Randy). Mom and I have the same interests, we both love singing and dancing. She is a church singer and she has a very beautiful voice. We sometimes spent our times together having British brunch with English Breakfast Tea and Kate Middleton-inspired big hats. Dad works as an aerospace engineer for Boeing. All my brothers were homeschooled and they always go to Sunday school. Even though I am a Muslim, they respect me and my faith and I tried to do the same with their faith. Every night we will read the Bible together and I also always went to church with them on Sunday.
- Who is your boyfriend?
My boyfriend is a very handsome, smart, and charming Catalan guy named Marc Mallolas Castro. Yes, he is from Barcelona, but he is totally independentist so if it’s possible, just dont call him Spanish hahaha (I support him and his countrymen to fight for Catalonia’s independence from Spain though). Marc got his bachelor of business administration and master of marketing management from ESADE Business School, Barcelona. He worked for Google Europe previously before moving to Garena Singapore as the business intelligence. he recently got promoted to handle Indonesia as the bigger market so now he is based in Jakarta.
- How did you two meet?
It was through a short cultural exchange program organized by my organization, Indonesian Students Association For International Studies (ISAFIS). The program is called Indonesia International Week (IIW). This program is regulated under International Week Coordinating Organization (IWCO) and consist of more or less 20 member countries. These member countries will have the same exchange program and they will send some students to join other countries’ international weeks. In 2014, I was one of the organizer of the event and Marc was the participant from Barcelona. It was love at the first sight. In the opening ceremony, I was the MC so I was up on stage and I could see the way Marc looked at me. The next day, people were talking about me saying that Marc told them that I was very pretty. After that he started approaching and talking to me. The program brought us to 3 cities in Indonesia (Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bali), and it was funny because even though we were already close since Jakarta, he actually just started talking about how he felt in Yogyakarta, when we were partying in a nightclub. And we were inseparable afterwards.
- How did Marc ask you to be his girlfriend?
At first we made a deal that we will just keep in touch as a friend and spent as much time as possible together when we were in that program. It was hard to let him go at the airport and I had no idea when we will see each other again. After he got to his plane, I thought I would not hear from him ever again. But right after he arrived in Barcelona, he called me and told me that I was the first person he thought of contacting when he landed and then he asked me to keep talking regularly because he still cant forget about me. On September 3, 2014 he asked me to have a Skype and there he asked me, “would you like to be my girlfriend?”
- What is Marc’s religion and how you overcome that situation?
Marc is a Catholic. On the day he asked me to be his girlfriend, I gave him couple conditions for him to follow before I said yes. One of them was for him to convert to Islam if this relationship is going to move forward to the next step. He agreed to that. On my birthday in 2016, he gave me some beautiful presents, and one of them was to start the process of converting. It means the world to me because now we are very much thinking of our future life together.
- Where have you been traveling to with Marc?
We have been traveling together in Yogyakarta, Bali, Nusa Penida, Belitung, Lombok, Palembang (my hometown), Bandung, Pelabuhan Ratu, Thousand Island, and Bintan Island for Indonesia, then we also have been to Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia together. We traveled around Barcelona (Marc’s hometown), Torredembarra (Marc’s summertown), Girona, and Sitges in Catalonia, Spain. Other than that, we have lived together in Singapore and Jakarta.

- What are your hobbies?
I really love reading. I can spend hours reading a novel I really like until it’s finished. But I also like non-fiction books. Other than that, I love watching TV series, listening to music, singing and dancing. I was even part of choir and dance team of my high school in USA.
- What are your all time favorite books and TV series?
Books: any novel written by Dan Brown (all the movies made based on these novels are also my favorite), Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, Message in The Bottle by Nicholas Sparks (I also love the movie), Harry Potter series (the movies are adorable!), and The Lord of The Rings series (the movies are my all time favorite!).
TV Series: GAME OF THRONES, How I Met Your Mother, Zoo, the 100, and any reality shows (like any Top Model shows, Master Chef, America’s Got Talent, etc.). I heard a lot of good things about Friends, Grey’s Anatomy, and Gossip Girls, so I will probably start watching them too soon.
